Childbirth Preparation Course

The birth of a child is a fascinating time of growth and discovery. To help expectant couples meet the challenges of the transition into parenthood, Pioneers offers a course that is designed to help new parents-to-be to build  confidence, make informed decisions, and feel supported in their new roles.

Pioneers’ Childbirth Preparation Course is designed to make each birth and parenting experience a special adventure. This course is taught by certified, highly skilled nurses and trained professionals who will answer questions and offer guidance. This course is not mandatory for a family to experience the birth of a child, but it is strongly recommended for first-time parents. A support person is also encouraged to attend. 

The course starts the first Tuesday of each month, goes from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.Pioneers Medical Center on the hospital campus. For reservations, please contact the community educator at 760.351.4500. The cost is $40.00 per couple for the four (4) sessions.

Diabetes Education and Support Group

With diabetes, the more one knows the better.  And Pioneers can help. The hospital offers monthly diabetes classes and a monthly support group. Classes are taught by Sandra Miramontes, RN, who is certified in diabetes education, and by other professionals under her direction. The diabetes support group meetings are continuing education programs with varied health-related topics. Refer to event calendar for this and next month’s class schedule. Please contact the community educator at 760.351.4500 to reserve space or for answers to questions. The cost for diabetes education classes is $10.00 per family per class. The support group meetings are free.

Blood Pressure Clinic

A free blood pressure clinic is offered every Wednesday from 3:30 to 7:00 p.m. in the lobby of the Phyllis Dillard Family Medical Center on the campus of the main hospital..

Babysitting 101

A two-session class offered for 12- to 15-year-olds to assist them to be better prepared as babysitters. The topics covered include:
