Visitor Guide
Visitors can be good
medicine for patients. Family members and friend are welcome to visit. however,
patient care is our primary concern at Pioneers Memorial Hospital, and in order
to enhance the quality of care, specific visiting hours and regulations have
been established for each healthcare center. In general, visiting hours are from
11:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. daily. We try to accomplish any necessary medical
procedures during the morning and it is important that the patient gets the
necessary rest so we ask all visitors to leave by 8:00 P.M. Remember the patient
is in the hospital for a reason.
Visiting Regulations
The following are general guidelines for visitors:

Visitors and
patients may not smoke in the patient room or anywhere in the hospital.
Smoking areas are designation outside of the hospital building.

Visitors must
dress appropriately and must wear shirts and shoes.

No more than two
visitors are allowed at the bedside at one time.

Visitors in
semi-private rooms should be considerate of both patients.

Individuals with
colds, sore throats or any contagious disease should not visit patients.

Visitations
should be kept short.
Visitors should maintain a quiet environment and avoid any unnecessary
noise.

Visitors may be
asked to leave the room during tests or treatments or when the doctor or
nurse needs to see the patient.
Any personal information about the patient and the diagnosis is confidential.
Only immediate family members as designated by the patient will be advised of
the status of the patient. Due to our respect for the patient’s privacy, our
nursing staff can not release detailed medical status.
Gifts for the patients
Visitors should check with the nurse before bringing gifts, especially food or
drinks, to patients. Please check with the nurse to make sure your gift is
appropriate. In the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), please check with the unit
manager regarding any gifts for a patient.
For safety reasons, plug-in appliances (hair dryers or electric razors) are
strongly discouraged. Should such an appliance be absolutely necessary, please
contact your nurse who will arrange to have the equipment checked out for
electrical safety by our Biomedical Department.
Cellular Phones
We ask that visitors and patients do not use cellular telephones in the
hospital, as they can interfere with sensitive medical equipment.
Parking
Parking for visitors is available in the lot directly in front of the hospital
–both the main building and the Phyllis Dillard Family Medical Center.
Additional parking is available on the west end of the facility and across the
street from the main campus. Parking is available from 24 hours a day, seven
days a week and is without charge. Visitors are cautioned not to park in
reserved areas or certain designated areas. Please be sure to lock you car. If
you need an escort to your car, you may call Security by contacting the 24 hour
switchboard at extension 0.
Gift shop
The gift shop, staffed by members of the Women’s Auxiliary, is open from 9:00
A.M. to 4 P. M. Monday through Friday and is closed on holidays... The shop has
excellent gift items, cards, flowers and candy. Both MasterCard™ and Visa™ are
accepted. Call extension 3349.
Waiting Areas
There are designated lounge areas for visitors near the Emergency Room,
Intensive Care Unit and the Phyllis Dillard Family Medical Center, as well as
second floor of the hospital near the patients’ rooms. Vending machines are
available in each lounge area.
Cafeteria
The cafeteria is open daily from 7:00-9:30 A.M., 11:00-1:30 P.M., and 5:00 -
6:30 P.M. While it is primarily designed to serve hospital employees, visitors
are welcome to eat in the cafeteria at any time it is open. If a visitor or
family member wants to eat in a patient’s room, trays are available to take to
the patient’s room. Our staff will be responsible to return the tray to the
cafeteria.
